On 22 December 2025, two representatives from the Israeli private intelligence firm Black Cube met with SDS President Janez Janša in Ljubljana. Three months later, videos surfaced in Slovenia using methods that Black Cube has employed for years in political and intelligence operations worldwide. How do you talk to someone who says voting is pointless? We invited young debaters to the studio, persuaders who tried to use arguments to get skeptics to the polls. These skeptics were played by improv league performers. Listen to the exchange of views, the excuses, and the typical “they’re all the same” arguments, and then tell us who you found the most convincing! This video is in Slovenian.

Janez Janša and the SDS party released a video claiming that early voting would be “invalid under all legal provisions”. This is dangerous and unstatesmanlike misinformation. Read the full press release (in Slovenian).

You can test your knowledge of elections and the most amusing democratic mishaps in this pre-election quiz. Every day from 1 March until 22 March, users were able to answer three questions to flex their democratic muscles, and were encouraged to invite their family and friends to join in. This app is in Slovenian.

In the general election on 22 March, you chose the future. Political parties had widely differing manifestos and priorities, so the Izvoli.si voting quiz was designed to help you find the one that aligned closest with your views. It featured 30 of the 130 demands compiled by the Voice of the People (Glas ljudstva) initiative and presented to the political parties standing for election. Parties were able to state their positions by either committing to these demands or declaring their disagreement. This app is in Slovenian.

The March 22 general election determined the makeup of the National Assembly and the country’s direction for the next four years. Knowing that many would be away on election day, we once again prepared a voting guide detailing various ways to cast a ballot. It was intended for everyone who was elsewhere in Slovenia, abroad, or unable to reach their polling station for health or other reasons. We provide these guides because we want as many people as possible to participate in decisions that significantly impact their daily lives. This app is in Slovenian.

With the upcoming election and the media once again filled with promises, catchy slogans, and glossy posters, it was the perfect time to look beyond the rhetoric and take a closer look at the work of the MPs in the ninth National Assembly. Because we believe people's vote should be based on substance, we have compiled data on the outgoing assembly's performance into a series of in-depth analyses. This content is in Slovenian.

Zemljevid in napis Kje lahko predčasno glasujem na referendumu?

4. November 2025

For the referendum on the Voluntary End-of-Life Aid Act, we created a simple map of polling stations for early voting. The map displayed all such polling stations across Slovenia, and voters could click on the nearest one to find out more about it. The map of polling stations for early voting is one of the online tools we use to actively encourage voters to fulfil their civic duty.

OMNIA polling stations, which allow voters to cast their vote outside their home constituency on election Sunday, are organised throughout the country. To encourage participation in the referendum on the Voluntary End-of-Life Aid Act, we created a simple registration guide for this type of voting and a map to help voters find their nearest OMNIA polling station.

29. October 2025

As is our tradition, we prepared a guide on the different voting methods for the referendum on the Voluntary End-of-Life Aid Act, aimed at everyone who couldn't make it to the polling stations on November 23rd. The guide was designed for citizens living abroad, people with disabilities, and those who were in other parts of Slovenia on election day. In short, it was for anyone unable to vote in the standard way. We produce these election guides because we believe in the importance of political participation and actively encourage it.

As usual at DJND, we have once again produced a guide for people who, for various reasons, are unable to participate in European elections and referendums like others. It is aimed at people who live abroad, people with disabilities, those who will be elsewhere in Slovenia on election day, etc. – in short, for everyone who cannot vote in the usual way. We create these election guides because we believe in the importance of political participation and actively promote it.

OMNIA polling stations, which allow voters to participate in elections even if they are outside their home constituency on election day, are organised throughout the country. To encourage voter turnout and facilitate access to polling stations, we created a simple interactive guide to OMNIA polling stations for the 2024 European Parliament elections and the referendums taking place at the same time. As voters need to register their intention to vote at an OMNIA polling station in advance, we also added instructions on how to do this to the map.

The map of polling stations for early voting is one of the online tools we use to actively encourage voters to fulfil their civic duty. For the elections to the European Parliament and the referendums taking place at the same time in June 2024, we created, among other things, a simple interactive map of polling stations. The map shows all polling stations and users can click on the nearest polling station to find out more about it.

We have developed the online application izvoli.eu in cooperation with the international network VoteMatch Europe to make it easier to decide in the European Parliament elections. The application contains 30 statements that have been addressed by almost all lists running in the elections. Users can also take a stance on these statements and find out which political option they are closest to in terms of their level of agreement. Similar questionnaires were also answered by parties running on European lists in other Member States, so users can also use these statements to check where they stand in the broader European context.

Kvizle (Quizzle) is an interactive online quiz that in the weeks leading up to the November “referendum trio” confronted users with 5 new questions every day. With Quizzle, users were able to check their knowledge of the situation at the public Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV). The latter, which was already in poor condition, was completely demolished by intense politicization. Every day we witnessed popular shows being cancelled, journalists threatened, and unprofessional, yet politically “appropriate” personnel being hired by the just as “appropriate” management. That is why, with the help of our friends, we decided to remind the voters in a fun way about the bizarre incidents and absurd decisions that marked the year 2022 on RTV. Quizle was similar to the hit game Wordle as it encouraged players to play daily – because they were unable to immediately check whether they got their answer right and had to come back the next day in order to continue their streak and to be able to brag about it on social networks

As friends of the referendum campaign FOR a professional and independent public television we created a website where we gathered relevant information, answered frequently asked questions, and encouraged people to vote. The campaign, which was organized by the organizations Association of Journalists of Slovenia (DNS), Peace Institute (Mirovni inštitut), Legal Information Center for Human Rights and Environment (PIC), and Institute for Cultural Diversity Open, was successful – over 41% of eligible voters participated in the referendum, and more than 62% of them voted in favor the law amendment.
